Our leather is of saddle-quality and the cowhides are carefully selected for interesting grain and “character”. We only use leather that has been tanned by traditional methods (with leaves, twigs and tree bark) rather than by modern chrome tanning. The tanneries in Great Britain from which we source most of the hides are renowned for their traditional oak-bark and vegetable tanning methods. Vegetable-tanned leather has a more pleasing natural appearance and over time acquires a patina like that of old leather-bound books.

The thickness and superb quality of the hides we use is evident from the rich, luxuriant appearance of the leather and its sheer weight. All our rugs and floors are treated with natural wax to feed and protect the leather.
